Jean Petit, former player and coach of AS Monaco, has died

Figure of AS Monaco, Jean Petit died on Tuesday January 23, at the age of 74, announced the Monegasque club. The footballer had spent his entire career in Monaco, where he played 426 matches. He won the 1978 and 1982 French championships and the Coupe de France in 1980.

International A (12 caps, 1 goal) having played in the 1978 World Cup with the Blues, the midfielder was elected best French player that same year by France Football. After ending his playing career in 1983, he held numerous positions within AS Monaco: interim coach in 1994 and 2005, recruiter for the training center, for the professional team, member of the technical staff , video analyst, deputy and advisor to the president.

Jean Petit then became the assistant to many successive Monegasque coaches: Arsène Wenger, Jean Tigana, Claude Puel, Didier Deschamps, Ricardo and Marco Simone.
