Deputies and senators voted for the inclusion of “the freedom guaranteed to women to have recourse to a voluntary termination of pregnancy” in article 34 of the Constitution. The text was 780 votes for, 72 against.
France becomes the first country to authorize voluntary termination of pregnancy in its Constitution.
